where were we and here we are

since i’ve taken up the literal form of spring fever and am at home, nursing this temperature, with some tea and bourbon, i figured i should run through the events of last year, so that we could get to the present.

i’ve developed the love for cooking, as over the years, i’ve developed the love for fine dining.  i rarely cook for myself, as it’s not as fun as cooking for your loved ones.  on the other coast, i often had dinner parties.  i’d throw one for a “sex in the city” episode, just to have an excuse to shop, have my besty be the prep bitch, sip on some wine while cooking and throw down to throw a party.

when i moved to brooklyn, we had a deck:

where many dinner parties, especially in the summer, happened.  across from this deck is still my favorite community garden.  i don’t miss the apartment building or the shitty landlord but i do miss this deck and that garden and our little family of friends that we’ve made.  the fire escape farm is a fraction of what this deck was, and well to have a barbeque on the fire escape with 20 people is a bit ridiculous but you make do with what you can.

one of my roommates from the old place decided she wanted to live in my old stomping ground, so i threw her a bon voyage party:

that’s tee in the middle.  is she wearing a see-through shirt?  and is that her…undies?  she’d kill me if she knew i posted this, as she looks a little on the crazy in this shot.  but this is my blog and well, she’s 3000 miles away.  so hah!  the other girl is my child-hood friend, who moved to NY about 4 1/2 years ago and lived one block away from my old apartment that housed the deck.  we never saw each other until i had to move in with her for a month before i moved into this apartment now.  she was not drinking that night, and is unusual for her, one of our little whino crew.  shortly after this party, we had a tete-a-tete and she fessed up that she was preggers.  more on her as we go through the pages.

the lovely lady above is also one of my roommates from the old place.  that’s me in the background (in the “farm”).  shortly after this party, a bunch of us went to Alabama for her epic wedding, which happened on my born day.  it was the wedding of a lifetime.  the royal wedding pales in comparison.

i am looking forward to being glossy and golden.

i have to thank this guy for the start of the farm.  without his creativity, imagination and inspiration, my fire escape wouldn’t have been so beautiful.  but more on him later.
